Tour of Oman – Stage Four

Friday, February 17 2012
Day four of the Tour of Oman is the hardest of the six day race with two gruelling climbs. Mark in his Rainbow Jersey put in a gutsy performance to stay in the lead group through the day. Cav had kept himself in contention up until the last climb before rolling through the finish, saving himself for the sprint stage on Sunday.
The finish was a battle between attacking climbers and hardened sprinters on a course around Al Wadi Al KAbir which included a short, steep climb just 9 kilometres from the finish.
Cav’s team-mate Chris Sutton claimed fifth place which saw him remain in seventh on the general classification, 22s behind race leader Andre Greipel.
The overall Tour winner will be decided tomorrow on the fifth stage which finishes with the 5.7km, 10.5% climb of Green Mountain.
