Cavendish to lead Britain on the road to glory

Great Britain head into this week’s cycling World Championships with their stongest ever squad and their leader Mark Cavendish in sensational form.

Mark has the opportunity of becoming the first Briton since Tom Simpson in 1965 to land road cycling’s highest honour. “I’m confident, I’ve got the strongest team I can possibly hope for so there is nothing more I can do now, nothing I can be worried about” said Cavendish.

Full of confidence after finishing the Tour of Britain Cavendish said ” my form is the best it’s ever been”. Cavendish was excellent in the Tour of Britain winning two sprints and coming second in a third which has left him among the favourites for the rainbow jersey on Sunday 25 September.
