Tour de Romandie; Opening Day

The opening day of the Tour of Romandie saw World Champion Mark Cavendish line up next to Bradley Wiggins in Team Sky colours for the first time.

Cavendish who was racing for the first time since his short break due to the birth of his baby daughter Delilah rode well finishing third. Mark who is using the Tour for final preparation for the Giro d’Italia tweeted, ‘….Great ride by @GeraintThomas86. Smoked it!! I’m more than happy with 3^rd. #TourDeRomandie’

The 3.34km time trial through Lausanne was won by Cavendish’s Team Sky team-mate Geraint Thomas in 3.29m.

After the win the Geraint said he would now be looking to support Cavendish, “For myself now it’s purely a team role. I’ll be there to help Cav in the sprints wherever they come”
