Monday, September 20 2010
It was a momentous occasion for Cav on Sunday, when he became the first Briton in 21 years to win a green jersey in a Grand Tour. Mark topped the points championship at the Vuelta a Espana with 156 points, despite a final stage fight-back from closest rival Tyler Farrar.
“I didn’t expect it when I came here,” Cav said, “but I really am pleased that I managed to achieve my first green jersey in a major tour. It’s something very special. I’m very happy for HTC-Columbia all round. We took five stages, led overall, and we got on the podium as well as the points. It has gone perfectly.”
Mark heads to Australia next for the World Road Championships. In his current blistering form, it would be tough not to expect great things…
