Mark was the star of the European road sprinting scene in 2007, when he rode his first full season with German sponsor, T-Mobile. With 11 wins, his was the most successful professional debut in European road racing history. Mark won the prestigious points jersey in five major races and, most impressively of all, beat some of the established legends of road sprinting, such as Erik Zabel, Robbie McEwen, Tom Boonen and Alessandro Pettachi.

‘Cav’, as he is universally known, developed his career through the British Olympic Academy programme. On the track he has been both World and Commonwealth Games Champion. He has all the characteristics of a born sprinter; outspoken, confident, witty and gifted, Mark was adopted by T-Mobile as the face of a new generation of exciting young talents.

Following his impressive debut Mark has notched up an impressive palmares with 15 Tour de France stages wins between 2008 and 2010 and victory in one of the great monuments, the Milan San-Remo.

Mark had his most successful season in 2011 riding for HTC, spectacularly winning the Green Jersey (Tour de France) and the Rainbow Jersey (World Championships) in Copenhagen, Denmark.

On the 30th November Mark received his MBE for “Services to British Cycling” at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace. The Manx Missile also received recognition for his impressive season from the public by being voted BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year.

Mark has joined the most exciting team in cycling, Team Sky for the 2011/12 season and made his debut in the Tour of Qatar with two stage wins. Cav also has the opportunity to win the first Gold medal of the London Olympic’s which is now one of his main targets for the season.
